We are looking for a way to evoke human potential…to establish greater physical and mental vitality. Dr. Ida P. Rolf

Rolfing Structural Integration was created following a concept of New York biochemist Dr. Ida P. Rolf in regard to the body’s response to Earth’s gravitational force. Her insight was that gravity stressed the imbalances in structure and changes in the network of connective tissues (fascia); it robbed the body of energy and good physiological function, but that these changes could be reversed.

Through fascial manipulation and movement re-education, the Rolfing method releases, realigns and balances the whole body, thus resolving discomfort, reducing compensations and alleviating pain. When structure is balanced in gravity the body is more at ease and functions most effectively.

Rolfing aims to restore flexibility, revitalize your energy and leave you feeling more comfortable in your body. It is a method for resolving postural/structural issues and musculoskeletal pain patterns, but is also sought after by athletes and dancers to improve performance and by those already in good health who want to live life to the fullest.

A series of 10 sessions is the basis of the Rolfing method, each session addressing precise themes in relation to body structure. Although the process follows a set of technical guidelines, each client is unique and therefore treatment is tailor-made to address individual needs.

One session lasts from 60 to 75 minutes. During that time the Rolfing practitioner will briefly assess the client’s structural needs and then apply fascial manipulation techniques, often with client movement participation, either on the massage table, seated, standing or in movement.
